First day of competition, following an amazing opening ceremony. Poor Vancouver, poor London-how WILL they follow that? Absolutely breathtaking.
I am so glad it is a Saturday and I could just sit and watch all day. I love the Olympics. I watch with knowingly naive appreciation of talent burnished by effort, and try not to think about doping, cheating, and other unsportsmanlike behaviors. I enjoy when America wins, I enjoy when underdogs triumph, I enjoy watching any competitor have the game of his or her life.
