Fresh off my dearest friend Buffy's renovation from hell, I am leaping in to the same swamp. With enthusiasm, yet! New paint, new floors in the main living spaces...that's all I am planning for now. But I have been pondering this for too long-and a wedding is just the spur I need to get it all going. We'll see how perky I feel when all the furniture is piled in the garage and the house reeks of sawdust and paint fumes.
Keep your eye on the prize, right? How beautiful wood floors will be in place of the too-long-here carpet...and how restful soft slate walls will look where tired blue is now. Oh-I'll need new soft covers for the furniture...and new lampshades, and new throw pillows, and I'll have to rearrange some art...some judicious pruning of accessories is called for as well.
Break large tasks into small ones-today-go pick up paint chips. Maybe floor samples as well. And fabric swatches. I think I'll make a decorator's board, just like on HGTV!
