Listening to NPR again this afternoon (yes, I do listen to NPR a lot...) and heard their occasional series "In Character" wherein an NPR person picks a favorite literary character and builds a story 'round it. I want that job. I also want to find the archives of the show and see who else they've done.
Today's character was Charlotte of Charlotte's Web. Interviewed or archive-pulled for the story were E.B. White, his stepson and granddaughter, one of his biographers, Garth Williams (illustrator) by way of another archive, the man who did the recording of E.B. White reading the story for audio-book, and the voice of Debbie Reynolds, playing Charlotte in the movie-a movie which any true Charlottian hates, by the way.
Being this way inclined, I immediately began to ponder what character I would choose, and whom I would want to interview about she/he/it.
I narrowed it down to:
Meg March
Anne Shirley
Harriet Vane
Phillipa Talbot
Anne Gordon
I'll have to investigate who I would interview about each...besides the author, of course. I do know that several of the authors are dead...this is fantasy, remember?
