Spent the day watching tennis-great tennis, amazing tennis. The men's final at Wimbleton. Roger Federer, going for his 6th straight win, and Ralf Nadal, the young turk phenom. The match took nearly 5 hours, had two rain delays, and enough drama and impossible points to satisfy the biggest tennis fan.
But watching the interviews was even more impressive-gracious tributes to each other-Nadal saying that yes, he was happy-but Roger has 5 championships, and Ralf has only one-Roger is the better player. Roger complimenting Nadal's refusal to lose, his speed and talent, and honestly saying "it hurts" to lose his opportunity to make history.
It was a good sport day-played the way it should be-both families sharing the same box in the stands, fans who knew when to cheer and when to be quiet, calls challenged according to the rules-quietly and with respect.
As a side note, the grounds crew is pretty amazing there too.
